چکیده

This paper presents a control strategy to mitigate subsynchronous oscillations (SSOs) in doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG)-based wind farms integrated into series-compensated transmission systems. The has two parts: the first one, compensation filter based on motion-induction amplification concept is proposed increase damping of DFIG machine frequency range; second proportional-integral (PI)-like controller designed using an optimal quadratic technique minimize effort and additional rotor voltage required by SSO action. mitigation acts locally system reducing negative resistance rotating grid at frequencies; this approach reduces dependence topology resonance frequencies network. validated with case study Argentinian power evaluated wide range operating conditions, showing that can be enhanced poorly damped SSOs penetration level system.

Damping analysis of sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) in a wind farm based on DFIG in a series compensated network

The effect of wind generator on sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) is being interested by increasing penetration of wind turbine in power systems,. Purpose of this article is to analyze SSR in a wind farm based on doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) which is connected to compensating series grid. A dynamic model for analysis of induction generator effect and Torsional Interaction (TI) has been u...

Supplementary Controller Design for SSR Damping in a Series-Compensated DFIG-Based Wind Farm

The increasing presence of wind power in power systems will likely drive the integration of large wind farms with electrical networks that are series-compensated to sustain large power flows. This may potentially lead to subsynchronous resonance (SSR) issues. In this paper, a supplementary controller on the grid-side converter (GSC) control loop is designed to mitigate SSR for wind power system...

Mitigation of SSR Oscillations in Series Compensated Line using LCAP Subsynchronous Damping Controller

Subsynchronous Resonance (SSR) is a growing problem in power systems having series compensated transmission lines. Subsynchronous resonance with low frequency that surpasses aggregate fatigue threshold of the generator shaft frequently could significantly reduce the shaft service life, which is a new problem that emerges in recent years. Flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS) controllers are ...

Subsynchronous Torsional Interaction of Wind Farms with FSIG Wind Turbines Connected to LCC-HVDC Lines

High-voltage direct current (HVDC) lines with line-commutated converter (LCC) are being increasingly employed to transmit bulk wind power over long distance. However, this may cause the sub-synchronous torsional interaction (SSTI) between the wind farms and the LCC-HVDC system. The SSTI characteristics of wind farms with fixed-speed induction generator (FSIG) wind turbines connected to LCC-HVDC...
